what is humans at work?

at humans at work, we aim to showcase what makes every human wonderfully unique, and support collaboration for positive environmental and social impact

once upon a time, Jules was leading a major change programme, managing a team of 40 people, and pushing herself to squeeze more into every day to meet pretty impossible goals and timelines

it was almost an outer body experience, knowing she was burning herself out and making too many personal sacrifices, yet feeling the weight of responsibility to keep going for the good of the people impacted by the programme

after the programme ended, she spent some time walking the beach and allowing her brain the space and freedom to drift that it hadn’t had for a year

the joy of the daydream, the sense of calm that comes from not caring what the calendar says...

it was on the beach that the spark of humans at work was born – the idea that hearing other people’s stories can lessen isolation and act as a circuit-breaker for your own hamster wheel

humans at work is based on the hope that everyone can take some time and space for themselves to find meaning and purpose, and by doing so, can contribute to positive environmental and social change

why the hummingbird?

hummingbirds are the most manoeuvrable birds on the planet – they’re the only birds that can fly backwards, and the only ones that can hover for such long periods of time because of their ability to move their wings in a figure-of-eight pattern

they’re important for pollination, and they always appear calm and purposeful

they are amazing, beautiful and busy, just like humans

and if we don't act to regenerate our natural environment, they won't survive
